Bitter gourd leaf fritters (ucche patar bora)

Why you should try it? On days you don’t have an appetite try these bitter gourd leaf fritters to change your palette. They are tasty, crispy and go very well with a simple dal and steamed rice.   It might be difficult to get these leaves from the market. I grow bitter gourd at home and hence have an easy access to them. If you’re one like me, just pluck the bigger leaves from the bottom of the creeper and wash them nicely before use. You can also replace the bitter gourd leaves with spinach for equally (not bitter though) tasty result. The leaves are mildly bitter and make for a palatable dish to go with your dal. So let’s get started! Ingredients Freshly plucked bitter gourd leaves (as many fritters as you want) Gram flour (according to number of leaves) Nigella seeds/kalonji (half teaspoon) Rice flour -1 tablespoon (optional) Salt (as per taste) Turmeric powder (half teaspoon) Oil (for frying) Procedure 1
